GCHS Athlete of the Week

Kaitlyn Santopietro, a standout member of the Garden City High School Varsity Softball team, has been named Athlete of the Week for her exceptional performance from April 8th to April 14th, 2024. As a dominant force both on the mound and at the plate, Kaitlyn has been instrumental in her team’s success this season. Her pitching prowess is evident from her impressive stats, with 64 strikeouts over 26 innings pitched and an impressive ERA of .538. Additionally, Kaitlyn’s batting skills have been equally formidable, boasting a remarkable .733 batting average, including 11 hits, 2 home runs, 1 double, and 9 RBIs for the season. During the past week, she continued to showcase her talent, leading her team to a perfect 3-0 record with her stellar pitching performance. In those games, Kaitlyn pitched 17 innings, tallying an impressive 40 strikeouts and maintaining a .412 ERA while allowing only 5 hits. Not content with her pitching exploits alone, she also excelled at the plate, batting .700 with 7 hits, including a home run, and driving in 5 runs. Kaitlyn’s exceptional contributions on both sides of the game make her a deserving recipient of the Athlete of the Week honor.
