The Garden City Varsity Girls’ Basketball team wrapped up the 2023 calendar year triumphantly with a commanding 68-26 victory over Carey High School, maintaining an undefeated status atop Conference AA-2. Ellie Pamatat soared to a career-high 37 points, showcasing her prowess with seven three-pointers, propelling the Trojans to yet another resounding win. The team’s success wasn’t solely on one player—multiple members made significant contributions. Captain Kyle Finnel displayed leadership, tallying 9 points and 13 rebounds. Meanwhile, the younger talent shone bright as Lucia Dersch, a 7th grader, chipped in with 5 points, and in her comeback game, Marissa Patrissi scored 5 points and grabbed crucial rebounds.
Defensively, Ava Venezia and Ava Mullaley stifled the Seahawks’ guards, exerting dominance on the court. Brianna Santopietro, Kennedy Palmer, and Kyle Finnell showcased their prowess in controlling the paint. Looking forward, the Trojans gear up to face Herricks in a non-league game.
