The Garden City Girls Basketball team made an electrifying start to their season, clinching consecutive victories against Mineola and Freeport. Opening with a flawless 2-0 record, the team displayed an impressive array of skills, tactics, and unwavering determination.

Their showdown with Mineola on Wednesday, November 29th showcased Garden City’s cohesive performance. Led by standout performances from Ellie Pamatat (27 Points) and Kyle Finnell (19 Points), the team orchestrated a strategic offense. Freshman Grace Brantuk’s remarkable 14 points and Finnell and Brantuk’s combined 30 rebounds bolstered the team’s strong presence. A solid defensive effort from Ava Vanezia, Ava Mullalley, Breanna Santopoetro, and Mikayla Molgano ensured control over the game, resulting in a convincing 64-56 win.

In the clash against Class AAA Freeport on Saturday, December 2nd at Baldwin’s Anthony Bolden Basketball Classic, the Trojans faced a challenging match missing three players. Despite a slow start and trailing after three quarters, a fourth-quarter surge, led by Ellie Pamatat’s crucial baskets, turned the tide. Defense was the highlight, limiting Freeport to 33 points and only eleven in the second half. Pamatat scored a game-high 19 points, supported by freshman Grace Brantuk’s 11 points and astounding 17 rebounds, culminating in a final score of Garden City 39 – Freeport 33.

This remarkable start attests to the team’s hard work, dedication, and unity. Under outstanding coaching and fueled by unparalleled passion, the Girls Basketball team from Garden City has set a high bar early in the season. With this impressive momentum, they emerge as a force to be reckoned with in the conference, igniting enthusiasm and confidence among players and fans for the exhilarating journey that lies ahead this season.
