Charlie Koester kicked off the lacrosse season in dominant fashion, earning GC Trojan Nation Athlete of the Week honors after a breakout performance in Garden City’s 12–6 win over Ward Melville during the Military Appreciation Game.
Koester was unstoppable, tallying 7 goals in the season opener. He got on the board early with a goal in the 1st period, added two more in the 3rd, and then erupted for four goals in the 4th quarter to seal the victory.

Honorable Mention: Emily Racich
On the track, Emily Racich turned in a performance that etched her name in Garden City history. She ran a 12.8 in the 100m, becoming the first GC athlete in 10 years to break the 13-second barrier. Her time earned her 1st place overall. Emily also led the team in the 200m with a strong 26.0, continuing to raise the bar for GC girls track.
