Garden City left no doubt on Saturday afternoon, closing out the regular season in dominant fashion with a 42–0 win over New Hyde Park. The victory caps a perfect 8–0 campaign and officially sends the Trojans into the postseason as the top seed in Nassau County Conference 2.
The milestone win also places Garden City football in the record books. With 62 straight victories, the Trojans have now tied the New York State record for consecutive wins — a remarkable streak built on consistency, discipline, and championship-level execution.
Garden City wasted no time asserting control in all phases. The Trojans’ offense scored early and often behind a balanced attack, while the defense delivered another suffocating performance — their fifth shutout of the season — keeping New Hyde Park without a single point or sustained drive.
“This group has worked tirelessly, and they’ve earned every bit of this success,” said head coach Dave Ettinger. “We take great pride in the standard of this program, and we know the job isn’t done yet.”
The win continues a tradition of excellence for Garden City, who has established itself as one of the premier high school football programs in the state. The Trojans now shift their focus to the playoffs, where they will begin their pursuit of another county and Long Island championship.
“We’re excited for what’s ahead,” senior leaders echoed after the game. “Being the No. 1 seed is great, tying the record is special — but our goal is to finish this journey.”
Garden City will host its playoff quarterfinal matchup next week, energized by a home crowd ready to witness history as the Trojans chase sole ownership of the New York State win streak record.
