Garden City High School Athletics Undergoing Major Facility Upgrades

Posted On: Wednesday, August 20, 2025

August 2025 – Garden City, NY

Big changes are underway at Garden City High School, where a series of major athletic facility upgrades are rapidly transforming the campus into one of the premier high school sports environments on Long Island. Backed by a voter-approved bond initiative, the improvements are designed to benefit student-athletes, coaches, and the greater school community for years to come.

Among the highlights of the upgrades are new turf baseball and softball complexes, a secondary multi-sport turf field, a state-of-the-art fitness center, a modernized concession area, and outdoor accessible bathrooms located adjacent to the main game field.

According to district officials, the athletic field upgrades are on track for completion this fall, ensuring that Trojan teams will soon be competing on some of the best facilities in the region. Meanwhile, the fitness center, concession area, and restrooms are scheduled for completion by September 2026.

“These enhancements represent a major investment in the health, safety, and success of our students,” said Ed Ramirez, Director of Athletics. “We’re not only improving performance and training opportunities, but also creating a more inclusive and enjoyable experience for families, fans, and the entire school community.”

The upgrades are part of a broader district-wide bond project, funded through a combination of capital reserves and tax-neutral bonding.

Each component of the project plays a specific role in supporting the district’s goals:

  • The new turf baseball and softball fields will provide safe, weather-resistant playing surfaces and year-round usability.

  • The multi-sport turf field will accommodate a wide range of sports and physical education needs.

  • The fitness center will feature updated equipment and training space to support both athletic and PE programs.

  • The concession area and bathrooms will significantly enhance the spectator experience, improving accessibility and comfort on game days.

This project is more than a facilities upgrade—it’s a commitment to excellence, wellness, and school spirit.

Garden City High School looks forward to unveiling these improvements in phases over the next year and a half and thanks the community for its continued support in helping student-athletes reach their full potential, both on and off the field.
