Garden City Boys' Lacrosse Defeats Manhasset for the Nassau County Title

The Garden City High School boys’ lacrosse team captured the 2025 Nassau County Class B Championship with a decisive 13–5 victory over longtime rival Manhasset on May 31 at Hofstra University’s Shuart Stadium. This win not only avenged last year’s semifinal loss but also underscored Garden City’s dominance in one of the nation’s most storied high school lacrosse rivalries.

The Trojans set the tone early, jumping to a 3–0 lead by the end of the first quarter and extending it to 5–3 by halftime. They then unleashed a commanding second-half performance, outscoring Manhasset 8–2. Sophomore Anthony Asaro led the offense with four goals, while senior Luke Cascadden controlled the faceoff X, winning 17 of 19 draws.

Defensively, Garden City stifled Manhasset’s attack, holding them scoreless in the first quarter and limiting their scoring opportunities throughout the game. This comprehensive team effort propelled the Trojans to a 17–2 season record and a berth in the Long Island Championship against East Islip on June 4.

Adding to the accolades, senior midfielder Owen Wuchte received the prestigious James C. Metzger Lacrosse Leadership Award, recognizing his leadership and commitment both on and off the field.

Garden City’s triumph in the Nassau County Championship not only highlights their exceptional season but also reinforces their legacy as a powerhouse in high school lacrosse.

The team will next play in the Long Island Championship against East Islip High School on Wednesday, June 4, 2025, at East Islip Middle School at 7:30 PM.
