Gabe Cohen Wrestles His Way To Athlete of the Week

Congratulations to this week’s GC Trojan Nation Athlete of the Week, junior captain of the wrestling team, Gabe Cohen. Gabe is 24-7 on the year and went 2-0 for the Trojans this weekend in the Nassau County Dual Meet playoffs. He is currently ranked third in Nassau County at 145 pounds but competed at heavier weight classes to support his team. In the opening round, he moved up to 152 pounds and helped the Trojans defeat Herricks 59-9, securing a technical fall over Earfon Rad (HER) with a score of 21-6. In the Trojans’ second-round match against #4 Oceanside, Gabe jumped two weight classes to 160 pounds and won by technical fall against Nicholas Carentz (OC) with a score of 19-3.

Gabe continues on his Vision Quest for a NYS bid as he competes in the Nassau County Qualifying Tournament on February 8th.
